Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show

Vince talked about this show the last time he was on Letterman and I have been hoping that there would be an Ohio date. Well, there's three. October 4th, 5th, and 6th in Cincinnatti, Columbus, and Cleveland respectively. I am totally going to one if not two of the shows. Some people on the board went to the kick off show in Chicago last weekend and they said it was awesome. Vince does an opener and the rest of the comics are great as well. I am very excited and can't wait to go!

Makin' Their Way, The Only Way They Know How

Well kids, Hell froze over. That's right, my parents drove down to Reynoldsburg to visit me this past weekend. I had my doubts all week long, but they did show up on Saturday. We had a good time out to eat at Fado and we also saw The Dukes of Hazzard. The movie was okay. Bad acting, not the best storyline. It had some funny parts. Like when Johnny Knoxville tells a group of black guys in Atlanta that they prefer the term "Appalachain Americans" to describe themselves. But the best part of the movie? Busted in Baylor County by Shooter Jennings is playing in one scene! I about fell out of my seat with excitement. I did, in fact, squeal a little bit and say "It's Shooter!" and hit my mom on the arm. My dad laughed at me. I also had to sit and watch the credits so I could see his name. It was like a proud parent watching their child be sworn in as President or something. I was like, "There he is. My little Shooter with his song in a movie." Crazy how take ownership of him as an artist. He is MINE! I liked him before anybody else! Well not really, but I've been a fan for a while now. You all will like him too, I'll make sure of it. Love and nubs!

Put the O Back in C untry

It's no secret that I love Shooter Jennings almost as much as I love Vince Vaughn. I'm not really all that attracted to Shooter, at least physically, but I enjoy his music as much as I enjoy VinceVaughn's movies. I stumbled upon Shooter Jennings one day while flipping through channels. I ended up on CMT and they had a short interview with him where he talked about playing his dad, Waylon Jennings (one of my all time favorites from my dad's collection), in the new Johnny Cash biopic. After the interview they played his video for 4th of July, which is quite a catchy song. The next time I was al Wal-Mart, I looked for his CD and it was only like ten bucks so I got it. I played it through that same night and loved it instantly. His lyrics were mature and poetic- quite refreshing in this day of the John Mayer variety of songwriters. Shooter mixed enough country with enough rock n' roll to suit my tastes perfectly.
Not long after buying his CD, and interesting post made it's way onto the Vince Vaughn discussion board I frequent. The topic of discussion was Vince's involvement with Drea deMateo. Someone posted a picture of her with Shooter Jennings at a CMT event and said that the two of them were a couple. I thought it kind of cool that Shooter Jennings would pop up on the board like that. This strange interconnection continued when I visited Shooter's website for the first time. I read his bio and it stated that he used to sing in the LA based band called Stargunn. I recognized the name immediately from the special features on the movie Made. Made is the movie that Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau (the guy from Swingers) made. They used many of their friends in the making of the movie, including Vince's high school friend as music supervisor. This friend also managed the band Stargunn and put one of their songs in the movie. I posted something about this on the same Drea deMateo thread and someone posted back that he was a music editor and had recently met Shooter Jennings at one of his shows. He introduced him to Drea and said that they had met at the premier for the movie Made. I find it quite serendipitous that this country singer that I started listening to has a weird connection to the actor that I've been obsessing over for the past year. But trust me everyone, it's all coincidence. Honestly (hehe) ;)
In any case, I joined a Shooter Jennings i-squad which is a grassroots promotional type thing. I get points for requesting him on the radio and CMT and GAC. I also am going to recieve a promo pack with postcards and flyers to hand out. I still have two CDs left, if anyone is interested. I just want you all to like him as much as I do.

Crabcakes and Football!

If any of you have not yet seen Wedding Crashers, shame on you! I have seen it five times already, but I will see it again with you if you need me too. I'm a good friend like that. I know, I know...
A friend reminded me the other day of all the good times I've had this summer and I thought I'd take time to reflect on them all. We had the Killer's concert that kicked it all off in May which was great times. Good show, good company, and good flirting. There was also fourth of July weekend and Sara's birthday party. So much liquor and so much fun. A look back on the summer wouldn't be complete if I didn't mention Crashers' Weekend. I had such a good time with my friend from home. We saw the movie, went out to a bar, hung out on Saturday, saw the movie agian. It was such a good time. Of course this summer has been filled with little fun moments out to eat, at church, and at the park. With the great friends I have, it's hard to not have a good time. I look forward the rest of the summer with you.
